In case you are planning to go scuba diving in Koh Tao, Big Bubble Dive Resort is within walking distance of Viewpoint Resort. Below the resort are several smaller beaches, where you can enjoy the warm water or lay under palm trees in the white sand. Sunset Beach is an ideal place for snorkeling and swimming and the smaller Viewpoint Beach is also only a minute away.

Taraporn, on the west of Chalok Ban Kao, is a largely quiet spot with a private stretch of sandy beach with palm trees surrounded by boulders. The Babaloo Beach Bar is close by with a chilled and relaxed atmosphere. Taraporn’s bungalows are nothing fancy but they are clean, spacious and in a very nice location. Surrounded by several smaller beaches and away from traffic and noise Taraporn Bungalows offer the perfect place to relax and enjoy your scuba diving vacation.

Plain wooden huts on stilts line the rocks at the top of the beach and feature covered decks with hammocks. Plenty of tree cover around the huts provides a retreat from the sun after a day of excellent dives with Big Bubble or simply after a lovely afternoon on the beach. A boardwalk leads guests from the bungalows to the friendly Taraporn bar and restaurant and then further into the centre of Chalok baan Kao, a short distance away. Several shops and 24/7 shopping as well as ATM machines are in walking distance.

Learn how to dive on Koh Tao

PADI scuba diving certifications start at the “Open Water Diver” level, where you will learn the basics of scuba diving. We will explain all PADI Scuba Diving Courses in detail within this section. Now if you are not sure yet if you want to learn how to dive, or if you a bit short on time, you might still have a chance to explore Koh Tao’s underwater world and get an idea of what breathing under water is like, by discovering scuba diving on an Introduction Dive or DSD with Big Bubble Dive Resort.

In case your time frame on Koh Tao allows you just a little bit more after you have already discovered that scuba diving well could become your newest hobby, but you don’t have the full four days it takes to obtain an Open Water Diver Certification; you might want to consider a Scuba Diver Certification instead. The PADI Scuba Diver Certification can later be upgraded to a full OWD certification.
